Le roi Italo est le véritable père fondateur de la Calabre. En 1350 avant JC unifie la région et commence à laisser des traces profondes dans la culture méditerranéenne.

Les premiers « sissizi » datent de cette période : des déjeuners communaux dans lesquels se tisse la vie sociale, économique et politique de la cour. Le roi Italo a réussi à unifier le territoire par la guerre mais aussi par la paix comme déjà raconté par Aristote. Un nom aussi évocateur devait être lié de force aux produits typiques de la Calabre.

Comme le roi Italo a unifié les différentes âmes de son peuple, Qual'Italy a associé clémentines, oranges, cèdres, citrons et bergamotes.
